In this course, we aim to give you basic knowledge of how to perform service and maintain smaller reefer units safely and efficiently. Reefer units are used for provisions stores, cooling CO2 storages, air-conditioning units, reefer containers, and cold cargo holds.

Some of the cooling media used in these units can affect the ozone layer. Others that replace these gases are potent global warming greenhouse gases. It is essential that cooling media is handled properly and, when no longer in use, destroyed by certified agents.

You will also learn how to do a leak search along with some advice on which parts to inspect and the equipment needed for this. Safe handling of cooling media is also included in this course.

There are also some facts about the legal aspects when dealing with refrigerants. These parts of the course are essential since they aim to increase the understanding of legal and environmental issues when handling HFC and HCFC chemicals.

After finishing this course, you will have knowledge about legislation and environment, safety and safe handling, pump down and recovery, drier and oil change, as well as after-service and repair of reefer units and refrigerants.
