Detecting Leaks

Seeking Disabled

Here follows a video about how to detect leaks and where you primarily should focus on the leakage search. Before conducting a leak check, test your instrument on a reference leak to ensure that the device is working correctly. When searching for leaks, there are certain things you should pay special attention to:

  • All valves, valve caps, and shaft seals.
  • Dryer connections/cover expansion valves.
  • Safety valves.
  • Bellows in pressure switches.
  • Low-pressure regulator.
  • Sight glasses.
  • Look for traces of oil.

When you search for leaks, turn off the compressor to allow the low-pressure side to equalise with the high-pressure side. If the refrigerant is disappearing without a trace, the condenser is likely leaking.
