HUMARC was established by Dr Paul Doherty MNM, a leading authority in Shipboard Procedures and Rule-based Human Error, in support of a better understanding of procedural safety within the maritime industry. Throughout his 15 years of research on the subject matter, he has authored several peer reviewed journal articles, including Principal Author of the IMO paper, HTW2/INF.3 on HUMAN ERROR. He has over 34 years experience in the Maritime Industry, in marine operations, new construction, surveying and seagoing. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of 8 professional bodies, including IMarEST, RINA & the Nautical Institute, and was awarded the UK's Merchant Navy Medal for services to Merchant Shipping and Ship Safety Systems.
