Keeping Our Eye On The Prize: Celebrating ISO Integrated Standards and a Brighter Future for Seafarers.

News|22 February 2023

All of us in the Seably team are giving ourselves a round of applause at the news that we have achieved compliance to the ISO Integrated Standards 9001, 45001 and 14001. This achievement is no mean feat, it took months and months of hard work, striving for the highest quality in our management systems, and we are more than thrilled that the high standards we set ourselves have been recognised.

Seably celebrate achieving compliance to the ISO Integrated Standards 9001, 45001 and 14001.

The ISO standards are awarded by DNV and cover our Integrated Management System, commitment to Quality, Reducing Environmental Impact and Framework for Occupational Health and Safety.

  • The ISO 9001 standard outlines the requirements to develop and maintain an effective Quality Management System (QMS)
  • The ISO 14001 standard focuses on controlling and reducing environmental impacts and improving environmental performance (EMS).
  • The ISO 45001 standard sets out a framework for occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems.

Ultimately, we are driven by a passion to deliver up-to-the-minute maritime training that improves crew performance, safety and well-being. The seafarer remains at the heart of what we do, and whilst life at sea feels like a far stretch from the mountains of administration necessary for an ISO, it is only through having the best quality systems in place that we can guarantee delivery of cost-effective, accessible training that actually works!

We like to think of it as the engine room that makes our ship the best in the business.

Last year, our ‘engine room’ was also the first to not only pioneer but receive the DNV SeaSkill™ standard ST-0595, awarded for our ‘robust course management systems’ and good quality training. To us, quality isn’t just having a slick website, it means thinking about every element of the training process in minute detail; how long each learning module is, how interactive it is, image quality, sound quality, video quality,  layout to prevent eye strain…the list goes on.

Driving safety through quality is an important part of what we do.

Better still, the DNV SeaSkill™ standard ST-0595 has raised the standard for ALL platform providers in the industry as it is open to all. Seafarers deserve to train in a way that will not only help them to be more productive but to be safer and have the opportunity to improve their career prospects too.

As the industry moves towards a digitalised future, having these certified processes in place is more important than ever to keep our seafarers ahead of the curve. The future is digital learning, and seafarers need to be given the tools to learn in a safe way.
