This course is intended to provide the knowledge needed to act as a Safety Officer onboard. As a Safety Officer, you are responsible for inspections and overseeing the safety of procedures & equipment.

The course covers the functions and obligations of a Safety Officer, as described in the ISM Code. You will also learn more about the basics of the ISM code and the Safety Management System (SMS).

To enable a safety culture, it is of great importance that the Safety Officer and their crew are aware of work permits, how to identify hazards, and how to address risk assessments. All of these topics are a part of this course. This course consists of four lessons, followed by control questions to secure your knowledge.
