In this course, you will learn more about what could happen if you do not pay attention to your surrounding. This accident could happen on your ship if you do not make sure to keep a distance and be careful. Some day-to-day routines might seem harmless, but they could quickly go wrong. Be careful!

This incident is based on the experiences of the UK P&I Club. Accidents like the one in this course can and do happen. As you go through this course, ask yourself, "Could this happen on my ship?"

While repositioning the vessel astern the terminal, using only mooring lines and with the engine on stand-by, the master became concerned the vessel was developing excessive sternway.
