In this course we will be looking at the role of the gangway watch keeper, the relevant legislation and the security of the vessel.

Upon completing this course, you should understand what constitutes an effective and safe gangway security watch and have a knowledge of the ISPS code with its core components. You will be able to explain the significance of the gangway as the designated point of access to a vessel as well as describe the role of the gangway security watch in relation to the Port Security Threat Level.

You will also learn how to conduct a security check on personnel or through a baggage search by the end. Whilst also identifying the first response to unauthorised individuals or objects.
