Hatch Cover Maintenance

Alandia 1 hour and 8 minutes

This course is all about hatch covers; different types and constructions, and the importance of correct maintenance and inspection. Hatch covers are also part of the vessel’s watertight integrity and seaworthiness, therefore knowledge and understanding of the key components and their inter-dependency are at the core of the learning objectives.

This course will introduce you to hatch covers, step by step. We are then going to learn about their function, maintenance, testing the weather and water tightness, and the responsibilities when testing and maintaining, we also learn about laws and regulations in relation to hatch covers, and the last chapter is about the important underlying causes to water ingress. Today most of the cargo damages are due to leaking hatch covers. After completing this training course you will have a solid knowledge foundation on how to maintain hatch covers in order to keep your cargo safe.

In cooperation with both Al Mare Consulting AB/ Kim Heiniö and IMCS Training Academy/ Walter Vervloesem (FNI).
