The purpose of a shipboard incinerator is to provide a facility designed to incinerate wastes or other matter on board generated during the normal operation of the ship. Incinerators are predominantly designed for intermittent operation and comply with the latest IMO regulations.

During this course, you will gain an understanding of the regulations governing the discharge of sludge and garbage by use of incineration. You will also explore the management of sludge and waste oil on board vessels and how to ensure proper operation of the incinerators through maintenance, record keeping and compliance with IMO incinerator specifications.
