Introduction to Maritime Conventions

Maritime Conventions from the basis of the international standards that are then legitimised by Flag States and implemented by local legislation. The conventions themselves are created by the IMO to meet the needs of international shipping.

This course introduces the IMO and the conventions created by this UN body to set standards and requirements for all vessels. This includes, UNCLOS, SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL and MLC conventions.
