This course introduces the Parallel and Plane Sailings which are common navigational calculations for determining courses and distances for passage planning & rendezvous. These are short-distance calculations for runs of less than 600 Nautical Miles, or directly East/West along a single line of latitude.

This lesson will give an introduction and explanation of Parallel and Plane Sailing to give an understanding of how & when to use them. There is an example of each sailing calculation that will aid in your understanding. There will be a final assessment to test what you will learn in this lesson.
