In this course, how Digital Electric Circuits work in modern Intelligent Electrical Devices (IED's), logic gates, digital flip-flops and shift registers will be covered. The student should have a basic understanding of electrical circuitry and have the capability to read circuit diagrams to get the most from this course.

Digital logic is the foundation for digital computers and IED’s (Intelligent Electrical Devices). In this course, various numbering systems will be looked at along with binary numbers as they lead into Binary Arithmetic. From there Logic Gates and Switches will form the basis of further study along with Combinational Logic Functions. Electromechanical Relays are first used to demonstrate logical functions as they will then lead to more complex circuitry of Sequential Circuits, Shift Registers and solid-state components.
