A transformers basic job is to increase or decrease power. There are critical pieces of equipment that need to be protected and maintained to a high level to ensure maximum productivity is available throughout its life span. This course will give you a greater understanding of the standard type three-phase power transformer used within the industry today.

Basic requirements Electrical; Mathematics; Trigonometry.

Electrical three-phase power transformers will be explained with reference made to; electromagnetic forces and electromagnetic fields, voltage and current transformation, ratios and polarity. We will introduce potential transformers and current transformers and how they are used in conjunction with instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, watt meters and energy meters.

The core construction of transformers, connections within the unit and the configurations and associated problems are explained within the course. Transformer protection with examples of relays included the Buchholz relay to complete the course.
