Fuel Management and the Sulphur Cap 2020

Correct fuel management onboard ships is critical to the operational effectiveness of the vessel. The use of the correct types of fuel as well as ensuring the fuel is suitable for consumption by the engines must be monitored at all times. This has an added dimension due to changes that came into force in January 2020 pertaining to Annex VI of MARPOL and the new Sulphur Cap requirements.

Learners of this course will be able to explain the new MARPOL legislation for low sulphur fuels and how to comply onboard with these new requirements. You will also explore how the correct management of the fuel will ensure that the vessel is operating effectively within the new legislative framework.
