Correct fuel management onboard ships is critical to the operational effectiveness of the vessel, especially at navigational critical times such as berthing. Use of the correct types of fuel as well as ensuring the fuel is suitable for consumption by the engines must be monitored at all times.
This course uses a real navigational emergency that occurred due to poor fuel management to highlight the dangers of incorrect storage and monitoring of fuel quality onboard. Corrective measures and actions are then suggested to ensure that no time is lost or equipment damaged by poor fuel management protocols.
