Hand Tools Safety

Reza Kapo 33 minutes

The Hand Tools Safety course shows the learner how to safely select, use, maintain and store hand and power tools on board ships. This course identifies the correct PPE to be worn when using tools and the potential consequences of incorrect use of hand tools on board.

If a crew member does not have the proper tools for the job and the knowledge of how to use them, the person doing the work may injure themself. On ships, hand tools should be used, maintained and stored properly. A good seafarer takes care of the ship's tools.

For this purpose, this course details how personnel on board ships should adequately use hand and powered tools to ensure not to put their own safety at risk or damage the vessel and its machinery. More in detail, this Hand Tools Safety course will cover: hand tools and needed Personnel Safety Equipment (PPE) for using them, correct use and maintenance of hand tools and the dangers presented by power supplies.
