Planning Before Departing

This course shows how to choose the most appropriate life jacket for your boat and activity; how to schedule a courtesy VSC; how to plan ahead by obtaining and being able to share weather conditions and forecasts; how to inspect boat systems and safety equipment by completing a pre-departure checklist; how to board boats safely by using three points of contact as well as distributing passengers and gear while maintaining stability.

Topics covered include life jackets, Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs), planning ahead, vessel inspection and preparing for departure.
