Tug Boat: Deckhand Orientation

Seably 17 minutes

Before getting underway for the first time on a particular tug boat, each crew member must receive safety orientation. Workboat operators must provide hazard awareness training on threats to life, property and the environment. This includes an overview of lifesaving equipment, use of PPE, emergency procedures, and personal safety measures.

A review of lifesaving equipment and PPE, including life jackets, immersion suits, EPIRBs, and the unique dangers presented by working on deck. You will learn the correct emergency procedures, and what to do in the event of a fire. Finally, you will see what actions to take during a towing emergency.
