Level 2 Food Safety at Sea is the MLC/MCA compliant training for all food handlers on board. It is also required as part of the Ships Cook Certificate. This online training will prepare you for your role on board and for the remotely invigilated exam that the GQUAL will arrange for you with Highfield Qualifications once you have successfully completed this course.

The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for their role on board a ship.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production and service of safe food).

GQUAL has taken this MLC/MCA approved training and made it bespoke to the Maritime industry so the training is relevant and supportive to your role.

We urge all learners to complete this training as soon as possible to allow time to book the Highfield Exam plus receive your results and MCA-approved certification before joining the ship. This process can take up to 6 days after training completion.
