This incident is based on the experiences of the UK P&I Club. Accidents like the one in this course can and do happen. As you go through this course, ask yourself, "Could this happen on my ship?"

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) came into force in 2004 as an amendment to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention. It highlights requirements on maritime security including, minimum security arrangements for ships, ports facilities, and government agencies. It specifies the responsibilities of governments, shipping companies, shipboard personnel, and port facility personnel to detect security threats and take preventive measures against security incidents affecting ships or port facilities.

Emergencies and disasters at sea can lead to the loss of human life. When that happens, and if no assistance from the outside has arrived, crews may have to transport deceased colleagues or passengers to holding areas on the vessel in the form of freezers. Unfortunately, minimising the negative impact on crew members, who are engaged in handling deceased human beings is a vastly overlooked issue in the wake of major incidents.

This course, with relevant checklists and work instructions, applies to Tankers carrying MARPOL Annex I cargo and Combination Carriers when carrying oil.

Controlling hazards is a step in the risk assessment process after risk evaluation. It is necessary to reduce or eliminate risks that are found to be high.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the Transport of Dangerous Goods on Ro-Ro Ships in the Baltic Sea [Baltic MoU] is a multilateral agreement on the transport of dangerous goods in packaged form between Denmark, Germany, Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden.

In this course, we will introduce you to the philosophy, processes, and procedures required to support a marine casualty investigation.

This course provides basic knowledge to handle epoxy paint, a thermosetting plastics, onboard. The course aligns with the Swedish Work Environment Authority rules AFS 2011:19.

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the IGF Code. We will follow the fuel's way through the ship. Starting at bunkering to storage and finally, through the fuel system, you will also learn about managing potential risks.

This course is designed for onboard and ashore training shipboard personnel in identifying emergency towing equipment, their uses, and the hazards imposed when these are in use. The learner will reinforce training given during Tanker Safety Courses, and this will provide the development of STCW competencies as well as SOLAS requirements for tanker operations.
